A TASTE OF THINGS TO COME, by TICKLEBEAR

as is customary,

comes the end of the summer, early fall,

a bunch of recording artists

will be releasing their new album.

among them,

an old favorite & a new one,

a french singer & an american actress/singer:

mylene farmer & jennifer hudson.

i am looking forward

to these two singers brand new albums,

but in the meantime,

you get a taste here

of what's to come.

these were leaked,

as usual,

since i believe

it has become a marketing strategy

from the record labels

and/or the artists themselves

to create interest in their new projects

by leaking stuff over the internet.

but obviously,

they would deny this,

only reinforcing the interest

by making people believe

it is forbidden to see this beforehand...

DOMAINE DU SILENE 2003, by TICKLEBEAR

"domaine du silene 2003".

definitely a nectar blessed by god.

dyonisus, that is...

not the other guy,

you know...

a red wine with personality,

& even that might be an understatement!!!

it was a few mere dollars,

(like $25 something...)

above my usual limit for an everyday wine...

& i was fortunate enough

to discover something most delicious.

if only once this summer,

try this wine,

& you will NOT regret it,

i promise.

you can taste the mediteranee
& the tangy taste of fruit & licorice...

(they speak of smoked flavor,

i tasted licorice...)

to each his own.

but definitely,

if you are tired

of those wines with NO personality,

this will reconcile you.

i repeat:

YOU-MUST-TRY-THIS-ONCE-AT-LEAST !!!!!!

trust me!!!

i may not know crap about wine,

but i know what i like,

& what i don't.

& i like to treat my palate right...

MONTREAL FIREWORKS 2008: ITALY, by TICKLEBEAR

fortunate you were

if you got to see

montreal's fireworks tonight,

brought to you by

pirotecnica morsani s.r.l. .

with a very eclectic soundtrack,

from pop to charleston to classical music,

this team amazed us

with a very festive presentation.

it was so engaging,

lucrecia who was my guest this evening

was standing for a good part of it.

she was restless!!!

it was nice to see

& i was delighted that

she was fortunate enough to see a good team.

the italians didn't let us down

with something that felt superior

to many fireworks i have seen in the past.

i am sincerely wishing them

the best of luck in this competition,

as they gave us a most thrilling display

of their talent.

(did i ever mention i REALLY love italians?...)

WANTED (MAYBE...NOT!!), by TICKLEBEAR

today was the release of

"wanted",

the new flick

with angelina jolie, morgan freeman,

& james mcavoy.

try imagining a pathetic accountant (mcavoy),

leading a dull life,

(no surprise there...)

finding out that the father that

abandonned him & his mother

when he was still just a baby,

was killed the day before,

& he was an assassin.

& the one who killed his dad,

now wants to kill him...

he is to join the fraternity of assassins

his father belonged to,

to follow in his father's footsteps...

yeah, right!!

the scenario seems a bit flimsy,

i found the main character unsympathetic

throughout the movie,

& felt the urge to whack him myself...

angelina is good,

nice eyecandy

& i liked her in that role.

except,

don't expect clever dialogues in that movie,

there aren't any (clever, that is...).

the stunts & special f/x are interesting.

while there are a few good moments,

i felt there was not enough

to sustain my interest throughout.

was i amazed by that film.

nope!!

merely amused,

occasionally.

was i intrigued?

nope!!

i just went with the flow.

i'll say this:

toward the end,

there's a bit of a twist

that made things a tad more interesting,

but too little too late.

morgan freeman,

whom i adore,

did the job,

but nothing more.

when you know this man

has delivered in the past

some great performances,

in my opinion,

this is a bit of a letdown,

though not a total disappointment.

it's not a bad movie.

just not a great one.

keep your expectations low,

& you'll be happy.

neurons activity: none required.

adrenaline: you get a few short bursts.

stunts & spc f/x: not bad at all,

some are quite effective.

photography: impeccable.

go see that movie,

it's allright.

just don't expect to remember it

in more than a couple of weeks.

i don't smell oscar here...

but it's a summer movie after all.

Zaki Ibrahim, heureux mélange d'influences

Voici un de mes derniers coups de coeur. Il s'agit du tout nouveau CD d'une demoiselle née à Vancouver d'un père d'Afrique du Sud et d'une mère anglaise/écossaise. Zaki a grandi tant en Afrique du Sud que dans l'ouest canadien. Imaginez le mélange des influences diverses dont elle a pu se nourrir!

Après des années d'exploration musicale, elle nous livre ce CD,judicieusement nommé Eclectica, dont les pièces reflètent chacunes à leur manière, un aspect de ses influences. C'est en plein ce que j'apprécie d'un artiste. C'est-à-dire cette capacité de me transporter dans un univers nouveau et enveloppant, tout en me faisant voyager d'une pièce à l'autre. Une atmosphère unique, une expérience riche en sensations.

Comment vous décrirais-je la chose...

C'est un peu comme un face à face entre Sade et Björk, sur un petit chemin d'Afrique du Sud.

Vous avez cette voix veloutée, sur des arrangement éclectiques aux consonnances africaines, pour le plus heureux des mélanges!

Voici deux extraits, dont le deuxième est interprété en partie en français, ce qui n'est pas pour me déplaire!




Zaki sera à Montréal le 4 juillet prochain dans le cadre du Festival de Jazz, sur la scène Bell à 20:00.

Des Montréalais qui brassent de bonnes affaires!

Bierbrier, va devenir un résident permanent dans mon frigo.

Non seulement cette bière a un goût phénoménal mais semblerait quelle ne contienne pas de "cochoneries" pouvant virer l'estomac à l'envers ou provoquer un mal de bloc de type "MSG". (J'ai testé pour vous, j'en ai bu 5 en ligne)

MY VIEW ON SEX & THE CITY, by TICKLEBEAR

i guess we should have started this blog

like months ago,

since so much has happened during that time,

so,

i'll recap what i've been saying elsewhere.

for starters,

"sex & the city".

you'll gather
that i've loved the movie,

& you'd be right.

i've luv'-luv'-luv'd the movie,

but then,

i am after all a diehard fan...

:D~

i was totally obsessed with the tvseries,

as i tend to be an extremist

in pretty much everything...

you'll get used to this.

;)~

so reuniting with the gals

was really something i was looking forward to.

in the movie,

we found ourselves on familiar ground

as carrie was living through drama,

miranda was also dealing with drama of her own,

samantha had rather a dilemma,

& charlotte,

well charlotte,

charlotte had her fairytale.

as you can see,

i'm not giving anything away here,

to spare those who may not have seen it yet.

let's just say

it is a testimony to friendship

& a lesson in forgiveness.

was it predictable?

perhaps,

if you're familiar with the characters,

things went along the same lines.

was it fun to watch?

most definitely!!!

The Happening ... still waiting for it to "happen"

Had to see because of the trailer...

Here I go, my first "kritk" on this blog.

I will be as neutral as possible....

Mark Wahlberg, luv him, great actor,John Leguizamo, seen him excel before
M. Night Shyamalan, director, interesting and very promising visions.
2 scenes "dignes": the construction workers flying off the roof: beautiful & the man liying down in front of the commercial grade lawn-mower, GOOD STUFF!

The story... why mix up relationships, family & every day life (unless completly mind-blowing) in the plot... I DON'T CARE!!!
If you R going to scare the shit out of me (meaning this could really happen...) don't think I'm that stupid... Please at least try to impress & scare me so much I do not care about "details"... in this case, had time to think through the movie & even though I am not a rocket scientist, lets have dinner & debate the stuff you want me to believe (ps, U buy the wine!)
Okay, they made it they lived... do not want to be a party pooper here but if all Hell breaks loose on Mother Earth, make me feel pain! (okay still glad Mark W, will be around for another film)

So overall I give it:


$12:00 buys you a nice bottle of wine U know, invest in that insted of seeing the film at reg. admission price, just my advice to keep you happy.

But here is the trailer, do your own thinking, you can thank me later!
