HELL'S GONNA FREEZE OVER !!!! by TICKLEBEAR

Photo Sharing and File Hosting at Badongo.com

yes, hell's gonna freeze over!!!
ticklebear has acquired (legally...)
the DVD boxset of the first season of
a quebecois comedy
running on radio-canada...
alright people!!
pick up your jaw from your desk
& put back your eyeballs into the sockets...
:D~
written by francois archambault
& directed by ricardo trogi,
it is the collision of two lifestyles
of two men that used to share things together,
both playing in a band
& living on the wildside;
now they both live in two totally different worlds,
& drag everyone into a whirlwind experience
where all are exposed to unexpected sides of themselves.
it's a crazy world out there
when you let it in...
suburbia will never be the same.
i'm halfway through the first season,
& i'll admit...
(awh, shut up!!!)
it is quite good.
some things made me laughed out loud.
if i had watched it on tv on a weekly basis,
i don't know if i would have stuck with it,
but to see it like this,
one chapter after another,
(no commercials...),
it makes for a pleasant time,
where we see the opposition
between freedom & conformity,
between obligations & being carefree.
what do you think happens???
H-mmm???
as the saying goes:
the shit hits the fan...
i don't know
if i'll watch the 2nd season on tv this fall,
but i'm likely to grab it on DVD
when it comes out.
the characters are well-defined,
the storyline is interesting
& it reflects somehow
what our society has been through
& what it's all about now,
with a touch of humor.
yup,
i like it!!
:)~

(is everyone still breathing???...
come on!!!
get over it...)

UPDATE: AUGUST 25TH
the main character,
"jacques prefontaine" just lost his mom,
just like me,
not so long ago...
a moving moment.
should i expect one too?????
nevertheless,
an excellent series,
& looking forward even more so,
to the 2nd season.

MONTREAL HAS ITS PRIDE, ITS GAY PRIDE !!!

Photo Sharing and File Hosting at Badongo.com

the weather was nice
& the crowd anxiously waited
for things to start.
the parade this year
was under the theme of the circus,
& some really took it to heart.
it was a lively, noisy & colorful parade;
with its clowns & acrobats,
a bit of leather,
a bit of glam,
& a whole lot of energy.
it was a great parade,
like we hadn't seen for a while now...
nothing too shocking happened,
but issues about family, health & human rights
were raised.
we also saw some lambda groups,
as well as some retiree group.
talk about contrast!!
but we can't ignore the fact
that everyone deals with his/her homosexuality
at any age.
also,
the presence of some ethnic groups
reflecting the true diversity of montreal
was heartwarming.
community groups & local businesses
did their best to put on a good show,
some having more means than others,
but it was all done with heart.
best floats are the "circus sky"
& "mado's circus".
the best hat goes to "madame simone",
with that reptily-thing on her head.
very circus lady, my dear!!
:D~
the "studbar" didn't have a spectacular float,
just a structure,
but the acrobatics done there were most enjoyable to watch.
wasn't that mario going up & down???
:)~
best business award goes to TD bank,
not because it was spectacular,
but the crew was having a good time
& it was contagious.
worst business award goes to?
it's a tie,
between "vitamin waters" & "guru",
for showing up with their promotional trucks,
but lacking any sense of marketing:
couldn't they have distributed some samples of their products??
the refreshments would have been welcomed
& it might have introduce their brand
to new customers,
& showed some spirit too...
sorry guys!!
you missed on that one.
best swimsuit/underwear award goes to:
the guys on the "parking" float.
a really sexy bunch over there.
the parade ended on a sour note though...
the "stockbar" float...
the concept was pretty nice,
but just like last year,
the dancers wouldn't really acknowledge the crowd,
& didn't perform any form of entertainment,
just standing there,
talking among themselves.
(again, just like last year.)
i saw only one who tried,
but he looked pretty lonely there.
i guess these guys are only good for one thing:
bouncing their dick left & right when you throw money at them.
don't think guys
that because of your look,
that's all it takes.
:(~
so "stockbar",
you get the award for the worst show,
or should i say no-show??
totally boring...
:(~
but that aside,
a most enjoyable afternoon,
watching a parade
that was mostly entertaining,
minus a few things.
congrats to all participants & sponsors!!
good show!!
& see you all next year!!
(except the "stockbar" guys...)
:D~

Radiohead, Montreal 2008

Photo Sharing and File Hosting at Badongo.com "Just as they play your favourite song, as your bad day disappears"
Yes it was rainy, gray, muddy & crowded, but as they played my favorite song they made it all disappear.

MTL-2008 video not there anymore, so here is the official one!

I am a Radiohead fan, no I do not like crowds nor the rain. But it will be engraved on my hard drive... brain that is... unfortunately did not take video & audio. Souvenirs from that muddy wild evening among true fans is now part of my neurones.

I was closer to the stage for the first band (Grizzly Bear...my totem name & I must say they were rockin'), but having to go eliminate a prior beer & getting a new one...could not find room to see the stage (umbrellas were aparently allowed). So I climbed up the hill, tried many times to convince the STCUM staff to let me on their show bus roof top (even asked for an emergency escape demo, that did not work)...so I watched the show on the top of the "butte".

Radiohead was generous, their playlist, 15 songs + 2 encores...that's more songs than my actual I-pod battery can handle... they were live & they were on fire! Even when the fireworks came...(please watch this clip, you can hear Thom Yorke adding the word: "Fireworks" to the lyrics...GÉNIAL!). Must have been disturbing for them, 'cause it got my attention. That was for a short few seconds, Radiohead's performance blew away any other occuring phenomena at that time. Every song I love was there (except "Pyramid song" & "Dollars & cents" but I can live without that).

What a great time I had even though I could not see the band clearly, the stage & it's lights + Montreal's unrentless menacing skyline... WOW, WOW &RE-WOW.

Too old to be a groopie but for ever will be a music lover & Radiohead fan.
on my chart that is:I am still surprised they let me in the subway after what I looked like... Fell twice in the mud going down the hill, once one the left, once on the right... washed my tub 3 times, still mud in there... but everytime I wash it I am singing a Radiohead song out loud, to my neighbors' delite, "it's gonna be a glorious day!"

MONTREAL'S FIREWORKS 2008: PANZERA S.A.S. & FINAL RESULTS, by TICKLEBEAR

Photo Sharing and File Hosting at Badongo.com

so,
this was the final tonight...
panzera s.a.s. delivered a performance
that was not jaw-dropping,
since i found the music selection rather traditional,
be it classical, jazz or mainstream,
BUT!!!
their interpretation was most engaging,
even intriguing at times.
i was riveted!!!
& one good thing,
they were MOST generous!!!!
it never lacked,
it just kept on coming!!!
what a great show.
no rating as they were not competing,
but it was SO worth seeing!!!
alright, alright!!
so you want to know who won the competition?
GOLD JUPITER GOES TO U.S.A.'S PYROTECHNICO!!!
SILVER JUPITER GOES TO AUSTRALIA'S HOWARD & SONS!!!
& THE BRONZE JUPITER GOES TO CHINA'S SUNNY INTERNATIONAL!!!
& i could not agree more!!!!
the competition was SO fierce this year,
you'd think
they all had to win or die...
i wish to thank every company that participate this year,
as they gave us the ultimate experience.
this jaded spectator was entranced more than once.
THANK YOU!
THANK YOU!
THANK YOU ALL!
in my heart,
many have earn a gold jupiter.
& i'm sure i can safely speak for everyone here:
come back any ol'time!!!!!
thanks, grazie, danke...
(& that's the extent of my knowledge...)
THANX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Your Face :

FIREWORKS 2008: CHINA, by TICKLEBEAR

Photo Sharing and File Hosting at Badongo.com

last night was the last contestant,
sunny international co. inc.
in what was a most anticipated firework.
it was china after all...
but mother nature quickly proved uncooperative
as we could see all of the fumes
stagnating there due to a lack of wind.
the music was charming though quite conventional,
but they did throw in there some edith piaf.
as for the firework itself,
the various pieces looked amazing,
but we rapidly lost any visibility,
ending up on missing what might have been a grand finale.
pity.
i was SO looking forward to their show.
i hate when that happens...
but with the weather we had been having all day,
it came as no real surprise.
still,
the little we could see from my place
looked very good.
let's hope the judges saw more than we did.

GRACE JONES: THIS IS LIFE, by TICKLEBEAR

Photo Sharing and File Hosting at Badongo.com

la bloggia may have beat me to the punch,
about grace jones,
as i hesitated
about posting "corporate cannibal"
& decided to post something else,
but here's something else,
that she ain't got:
the soundtrack of "this is life".
some source told me this may not be the final track
from the wall of sound...
that remains to be seen,
but in the meantime,
i think this is already a great track.
so,
i did a little video
to enhance the experience.
some old & more recent pics,
with her new sound.
can it get any better"
only the people at wall of sound can answer this...

MUMMY 3: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR, by TICKLEBEAR

Photo Sharing and File Hosting at Badongo.com

mummy 3.
i was a big fan of the first two films,
so it was no surprise
i saw this one.
good news, bad news????
ok!
i miss rachel weiss,
but maria bello did well,
even though she's not the most charismatic actress...
jet li was alright too.
the CGI looked kinda low-budget...
alright, that's enough!!!
brandon fraser????
G-rrrrr!
yep!!!
michelle yeow,
simply superb!!!
the new kids on the block???
not bad at all!!!
i want more.
(& we'll get more,
as it screams sequel...)
:D~
the movie started just fine
with a touch of mythology.
i thought it was genial
to make a story
about the emperor & its clay army.
was it clever?
nope...
(sorry!!!)
was it entertaining????
damn right it was!!!!!!!!!
torontoboy & superman agreed with me:
it's a 4 stars.
we had a great time.
but it's not something out of the discovery channel.
don't believe everything you see there...
(obviously!!!)
:D~

FIREWORKS 2008: USA, by TICKLEBEAR

Photo Sharing and File Hosting at Badongo.com

the united states of america!!!!
represented by pyrotecnico!!!
(even their website is cool!!)
P-Y-R-O-T-E-C-N-I-C-O !!!!
that's how you spell orgasm!!!
OH, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it was all for "the love of rock"
& rocking they did.
montreal was basked in their light,
i even got emotional
as they played jonh lennon (twice...) & U2,
& so many others.
there was just such a mood!!!
definitely,
one of the best presentation.
they get 5 stars, and more!!!!!!!!!!!
elvis gratton would have been SO proud:
"think big, 'stie!!!"
non-quebeckers will not get this,
but just know this:
this was one hell of a firework!!!
it rocked,
it amazed us,
we are in awe!!!!!
even as i write this,
almost 2 hours later...
it was one amazing show.
linoue was there,
dancing to the music,
& applauding the stunning show
we saw tonight.
the only problem i see here:
we want more, now...
pyrotecnico???
how about an encore????
:D~
oh, wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!!!!!!
(just look at the bridge!!!
the jacques cartier bridge is NOT a small structure!!!

SOS CUISINE

And you'll never guess what!
It is also available in englishhhhh!
Is'nt it won-der-foul-le!

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Photo Sharing and File Hosting at Badongo.comSame Planet. Different World: Sunday at the movies for a group of 5 aged: 83, 79, 60, 50 & 43.We went to see the newest adaption of Verne's novel.

+:
  • Good use of the 3D "widget": Used in this film for surprise, laughter and putting the spectator in the action.
  • Brendan Fraser, the more I see him, the more I like him. He just has this casual, accessible personae and in this film he's the glue.
  • The young actress (Anita Briem) I mistaken for Kirsitin Dunst, she has quite an attitude in this film and it suits her well, does not seem like she is acting.
  • The TEENAGER (alias: Josh Hutcherson ) just doing what comes naturally throughout the movie, hopefully we will see him again (he reminds me of Edward Furlong, in the Terminator movies).
  • Special FX: the compositing very nicely done and it blends in the movie, you can hardly tell what is real & what is computer generated.
  • Specail mention: cinemtography & lighting. The use of colors warm/cold was impressive.

-:
  • Some action scenes. I know this is not Indiana Jones... but the coal mine roller coaster ride, the dinosaur jaw sliding down a mountain... Seen it before.
  • The fantasy. Maybe it is just me, (okay I take from James Bond & Indiana) but when "stunts" are humanly impossible, I kind of loose it here.

overall:
Our group laughed. I was not bored throughout the movie. The 3 rows in front of me had parents & kids aged from 6 to 12, I heard them laugh & actually saw one kid get up to try to catch the 3D fish! Very cute.

It is not a movie I had planned to see but am am glad I got to see it because I did enjoy it.

  • leave your cursor on one of the gigantesque Venus flytraps...it actually eats it!

  • Yes it's "Vernian" & you'll understand after the movie.

GRRRRRRACE JONES

· Corporate Cannibal
· The Key To Funky
· Hurricane
· Devil In My Life
· This Is Life
· Love You To Life
· William’s Blood
· Keeping Up With The Jones

FIREWORKS 2008: AUSTRIA, by TICKLEBEAR

Photo Sharing and File Hosting at Badongo.com
last night
was austria's turn to impress us.
pyrovision GmbH austria was supposed to hypnotyse us,
with black sabbath & other music of the same kind.
the soundtrack may have been interesting,
if unusual at best,
but the visual was SO bland,
i felt sorry for linoue
who was seeing her first firework this year...
fortunately,
she'll be back for the usa & china.
austria,
learn from this experience
& come back to impress us.
no, really!!
impress us.
'cause it's far from being our first firework we see here,
far from it...
we could see people leaving before the end.

FIREWORKS 2008: CANADA, by TICKLEBEAR

Photo Sharing and File Hosting at Badongo.com

tonight's fireworks
were created by
garden city display fireworks,
representing canada.
let's make one thing clear right away:
mother nature wasn't cooperating with us tonight.
low skies, slight drizzle, strong winds...
pushing the fumes toward the city,
thus marring my vantage point.
:(~
this said,
it doesn't matter.
presenting us "aurora",
a program with evocative music,
where you felt like going on an adventure,
& it was an adventure alright!!
each scene was creative, colorful, & most lively.
ambitious & innovative,
it was breathtaking,
despite the fumes.
it was sheer poetry!!
pity the camera couldn't capture
what the naked eye could see.
but i'm sure glad i saw this.
i think canada may be one of the contenders
for a jupiter.
truly,
this year,
the competition is fierce,
& it's all for our viewing pleasure.
a definite "5"!!
thanx guys & good luck!!

Vertige

Photo Sharing and File Hosting at Badongo.comBrought there by circumstances (reservations were required, as always, Au Pied De Cochon and the rain cloud exploded seconds later), Vertige conveniently being the restaurant next door, my sister (visiting from out of town) & I walked in.

The restaurant was empty. It was exactly what we needed, a quiet place to catch up, have great conversation in a cozy ambiance. The stars had lined up for us, right then.

Everything was perfect and exciting. I eat because I have to eat, I like the foods I'm used to, it does the job. Yesterday my tastebuds got stimulated to the max (yes it was an orgasm).

We ordered & shared:
  • Duo d'agneau
    (cotes d'agneau, moussaka d'épaule d'agneau)
  • Une frite
    (can't live without it)
  • Fondant au chocolat

First of all the service was "impeccable" and the food woke up my senses. When you do an exercise you are not used too, some muscles are sore the next day, I forgot how powerful "taste" is, now I know it's alive and well. Having foie gras whose fat is absorbed by spicy gingerbread toned down by the sweetness of peaches while your mouth is greeted by the apricot emulsion...it's Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, a big word that basically means: orgasm.

As I say, if you don't have any, you don't miss it, but once you've tasted it again, you've gotta have it. Next time I will not be brought to Vertige by coincidence, I will go to keep my sense of taste alive and well and...satisfied.

Vertige
540 Duluth Est, Montréal
514.842.4443

Yes I give it:

For any visitors to Montreal, when touring the must-sees, please stray on the cross-streets, that is were you will discover Montreal, visionnary entrepreneurs who have one goal, share their passion, craftsmanship & I guarantee at least one of your senses will be on overdrive.

SIR PAUL+QUEBEC CITY=HARMONY, by TICKLEBEAR

Photo Sharing and File Hosting at Badongo.com

sir paul mccartney did his gig in quebec city,
& me & my friends got to see it
last night on illico.
paul is now a sexagenarian
& it shows ever so slightly in some ways,
but nostalgia is quite forgiving.
yet paul remains after all this icon of an era
when there was such hope
for peace & love universally,
giving us a superb performance there.
it had been a while
since i'd seen an artist being just SO generous
with his public.
he went through the beatles repertoire,
along with wings' & his own,
showing us just how pertinent
he's always remained,
& reminding us of all this music
that has marked our lives.
he had lovely attentions for the people in quebec city
& people responded in such a way
that proved there was simply no polemics whatsoever
as far as quebeckers were concerned.
it made for a memorable moment
& i can just imagine those people,
in 10-20-30 years,
reminiscing & stating with satisfaction
that they were "THERE"
when that happened.
a unique opportunity
for quebecois & english cultures to embrace
& make peace.
there was such vibrancy,
i know this will not be forgotten
anytime soon...if ever!!!
:D~
it is a blessing that
paul has the health & the will
to still share with us his talent.
& we are most grateful for partaking into this.
my friends & i watched it
from the comfort of my place
& though it surely made for a different experience,
we were all most happy to see paul perform.
personally,
my strongest & most moving moments were
when he sang
"my love",
"band on the run",
"live & let die",
"let it be",
& of course
"hey jude",
where paul had some fun with the crowd,
to the delight of everyone i'm sure!!
:D~
& he also sang "michelle"...
;)~
a brit made quebeckers smile
& sing along on the plains of abraham,
thus washing the pain away for some,
i hope...
paul has always been revered here
as an icon
& his visit here made him appear friendly & generous.
truly the kind of friend we like to have.
a true ambassador for the reconciliation?
a true artist at any rates,
that reunites people all around the world.
:)~
sir paul,
thanx for the good times,
& hoping there may be more of these
sometime soon.
hey!!
we can dream,
can't we?!?...
:D~

happy customers!!!
we'll remember this night fondly.

all i can say is:
THANK YOU !!!!

thanks to pierre marchand,

a special thanks to sir paul & his crew,

FIREWORKS 2008:AUSTRALIA, by TICKLEBEAR

australia,
represented by howard & sons pyrotechnics.
all i can say at this point is:
WOW !!!
the judges will be hardput to pick a winner
for this competition,
as everyone seem determined
not to settle for second place.
the australian team dazzled us
with an array of perfect celestial jewels.
& if i may say so,
they like to work on a grand scale.
i even had to tilt my camera
to encompass the whole thing.
musically,
it was pure pleasure,
as they kicked things off
with moulin-rouge,
& it went from there to metallica & tiesto,
& everything in between,
as they ran the whole gamut.
throughout the presentation,
i noted 3 pauses that were uncalled for,
& at the end,
the fireworks ended way before the music,
so,
there may have been synch problems.
but honestly,
did anyone truly notice?
it was just so grand,
i doubt anyone saw that.
:D~
thanks mates!!!
it was great.
let's do that again some time.

to think we had some rainstorms earlier on,
than a rainbow,
& a fullmoon.
it was well worth it
to get such a clear sky & a great show like this.
everything was perfect.
